FOLIUM DOUBLE LEAD PLANTER

The design of this beautiful lead planter was inspired by the wood block printing patterns of the Arts and Crafts Movement, particularly the wallpapers designed by William Morris. The wooden pattern was entirely carved by hand with a scalpel.  This process alone took Glyn Brawn a week to complete. From this wooden pattern each panel was then cast in oiled sand before being lead-welded together. Notice that the pattern flows seamlessly around all four faces of the planter, this shows that there is a perfect repeat in the pattern. Because of this repeating pattern, the lead planter can be made to almost any dimensions. In fact there is a welded joint running through the centre of the planter above. This foundry-cast lead planter has been traditionally handmade in England by Heritage Lead Planters.
