This large six-sided lead planter stands nearly two feet high. It has been entirely cast in sand from wooden patterns, before being welded together. The pierced valance around the top has a brass angle soldered to the bottom edge, which adds strength. This valance is then supported on pierced brackets. Piercing is a traditional form of decoration for ornamental leadwork, although this is seldom seen in modern lead planters. This foundry-cast lead planter has been traditionally handmade in England by Heritage Lead Planters.
