ACANTHUS LEAD WINDOW BOX
Of all the ornamental designs borrowed from plants, the acanthus leaf is the most popular, recurring in Western styling since its introduction in Grecian art in around 500 BCE. Symbolically, the acanthus represents immortality and resurrection. With the artistic addition of the scroll – the natural plant having no tendrils – the beautifully hand-crafted acanthus leaves and blooms decoration of the visually bold wrap-around design on this solid lead window box is especially striking, even when viewed from a distance.
