DRAPERY LEAD PLANTER
SOLD
At first glance our Drapery Round Lead Planter might appear very simple; a valance of draped fabric held in place with two buttons. However, the historic significance of draped cloth is rich and emotionally charged. Terms such as ‘cloak of office’ and ‘mantle of leadership’ have existed for as long as people have been wrapping themselves in cloth. Draped cloth on a headstone reminds us of the veil that separates the living and the dead, a ‘memento mori’ and white cloth draped on a cross at Easter symbolizes the resurrection. Artist have always used drapery to display their bravura and skill and our real lead planter follows that tradition.

EMPIRE LEAD PLANTER

The Empire solid lead planter has a discreet design consisting of ribbon tied into a bow on a floral wreath flanked by sprigs of laurel. This makes a charmingly restrained planter that will show off your plants to their full beauty. Flowers and especially ribbons became synonymous with adornment and decoration, so artisans would replicate these embellishments in wood or metal to show off their skills, to lift their work from merely utilitarian and provide the owner with a visual feast.
